This NBA season started out looking like a possible power shifter. It seemed like perhaps, the Eastern Conference could finally be up to par with the West. The Celtics were playing great ball, along with the usual Pistons and the surprising Magic. They had all the potential for giving the big guys on the far coast a run for their money…until the last three weeks that is, when Shaquille O’Neal and Jason Kidd moved from East Coast mediocrity to West Coast powerhouses and Pau Gasol jumped up from the lonely depths of the West onto an already sick Lakers squad.
This last trade for Cleveland has attempted to re-spark the East, giving them one more potential contender and leaving them with four strong teams sitting atop the conference. The playoffs should be interesting between these teams, but unfortunately they stand alone. Toronto is the only Eastern Conference team besides the front four toting a winning record, and baring resurgence from Atlanta after acquiring Mike Bibby and/or Washington getting back to where they started earlier this season, it could that once again the East will lost the tug-of-power war.
